Charlotte's Brewery Scene: A Complete Guide

Charlotte has quietly built one of the best brewery scenes in the Southeast. With over 50 breweries across the metro area, there's something for every palate — from hop-forward IPAs to traditional Belgian-style ales to experimental sours. Here's your guide to navigating the Queen City's beer landscape.

The Big Names

NoDa Brewing Company

The brewery that put Charlotte on the craft beer map. Their Hop, Drop 'n Roll IPA is a local legend. The taproom in NoDa is spacious, dog-friendly, and always has food trucks parked outside.

Sycamore Brewing

South End's most popular brewery, known for its massive outdoor patio and approachable beers. Their Mountain Candy IPA and Sycamore Stout are crowd favorites. Great for groups and first dates alike.

Wooden Robot Brewery

Arguably Charlotte's most creative brewery. Their Good Morning Vietnam (Vietnamese coffee blonde ale) is unlike anything else in the city. The South End location has a rooftop with skyline views.

Triple C Brewing

A South End staple since 2012. Known for barrel-aged beers and their popular Baby Maker Double IPA. The taproom has a laid-back, industrial feel.

Birdsong Brewing

NoDa's other great brewery. Their Jalapeño Pale Ale is a Charlotte classic — just enough heat to keep things interesting. The taproom has a great patio and regular live music.
